Oh, Frankie...
Punknews.org - Pete 'The Pete' Steinkop and Michael McDermot of Bouncing Souls, DJ Values of Let It Burn, Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance, Andrew Everding of Thursday and Matt Scara of Pitch Black Blonde have formed a Cure tribute act named The Love Cats.

The band will be making their live debut on June 7, 2008 alongside a "heavy metal Bee Gees tribute" named Tragedy and Anna Copa Cabana at Asbury Park in New Jersey.

Now, that should be LOLarious...

But seriously, that boy apparently can't deal with having any free time. He has to be back on stage just a few weeks after the last MCR tour ended (and by last tour I mean the last few years of endless touring...).

Meh.
I haven't been posting or commenting much lately (And man, do I feel guilty for that. Sorry, new people who friended me this last month!). I don't know, maybe I've just been going trough a "Meh..."- phase.

I feel a lot better now, though, so the regular squee and fannishness should start up again soon...

I want some Iboprofen...
Today I helped clean out my grandfather's apartment (Wow, seriously, I didn't know one single person could own so many jackets and coats. He had, like, fifty to sixty AND I'M NOT EVEN EXAGGERATING!!!) and like the klutz that I am, managed to fall down a flight of stairs while carrying a box down to the car. After that, my leg hurt like a motherfucker, so my mom took me to the hospital to get it x-rayed.

Thankfully, nothing is broken but I've got some deep tissue bruising and the pain is making it hard for me to go to sleep and I can't walk farther than to the bathroom and back. Why the hell didn't the doctor prescribe me some pain pills? Seriously, this is some kind of German thing. I swear, no one ever gets any sort of medicine that might reduce pain (The only exception to this: If you just had something done to your teeth! Dentists are very prescription-happy). I think this has something to do with the Health-(Öko-)Movement in the 80s. Everyone's obsessed with eco-friendly food and did you know that medicine your taking is pure poison? POISON, I'M TELLING YA! Germans will tell you all that with a straight face while drinking half a bottle of Apfelschnaps and sucking on their 30th cigarette of the day...

Things I learned this week
1. Playing Guitar Hero (or, in my case, Frets on Fire, because I'm poor and can't afford a gaming console) is a great way to strenghten your fingers and train their agility. No more boring finger strenghtening guitar exercises for me! YAY!

2. Unfortunately, there is such a thing as too much Guitar Hero finger exercise...My left hand hurts like I'm an octogenarian with a severe case of arthritis.

3. I'm prone to rewatching whole seasons of Criminal Minds at the slightest provocation. Seriously...Between that and the compulsive Guitar Hero playing, I'm totally gonna fail out of college (Not really, but I don't think it's going to have a positive impact on my grades...).

4. Gerard Way's junk looks like a beautiful flower. NO REALLY! FRANK SAYS SO AND HE SHOULD KNOW, BECAUSE HE'S SEEN IT (Oh, bandom boys! Never change!).

Gerard Way seems to have the worst luck when it comes to exes. Seriously, first he gets a whole album full of bitchy songs dedicated to him. And now THIS!

Poor boy...He seems to be like catnip for crazy people. *pets him*

Objects in TV might contain less boykissing than anticipated...
Your Friends Are Not Watching the Same Show You Are (And That's Okay) (Link via [info]trobadora)

I thought this article was interesting, especially considering the rather unusual way in which most of us watch Verbotene Liebe. Sure, even with the Youtube clips, no two viewing experiences are the same but they have been pre-edited for us. It's no longer Verbotene Liebe, German daily soap, but The Olli and Christian Show, which is a soap opera about two boys falling in love.

Because I have started tuning in to Verbotene Liebe on TV, I've noticed watching them on Youtube is quite different from watching the whole show. It has a completely different feel. The whole thing is much less focused and the boringness of some of the other characters kind of dampens my enjoyment of the parts I do like but I'm an addict and I need my instant fix of Olli and Christian, so I'm unable to just say no, turn off the TV and simply watch the clips later on.

Imagine you'd become a fan of Doctor Who because of some awesome clips you saw on Youtube, but all of those clips were about Mickey Smith. Now imagine actually watching the full episodes after that. What you're expecting, is the Mickey Smith Show but instead you get 50 minutes of People Who Are Not Mickey.

That's how I feel when I watch Verbotene Liebe....

Dear US Americans on my f-list,

I'm really sorry your economy isn't doing so well right now but I'm kind of digging the Euros to US Dollars exchange rate.

I bought these beautiful posters

from MerchNOW for $5 each plus $10.20 for shipping and it cost me 12.68 €. That's less than what I would pay for one poster of that size and quality if I went out and bought it in a shop right now.

Meet my imaginary girlfriend!
Here's a picspam of Pauley Perrette/Abby Sciuto (from NCIS) for [info]likespring's

Fandom Women Appreciation Meme .

title or description

Pauley Perrette is awesome. If you don't believe me, Read her bio.

From IMDB:

Pauley Perrette was born in New Orleans and moved several times as a child due to her father's job. She graduated college with Honours - receiving her Master's Degree in Criminology. She also studied Sociology and Psychology. She was - and still is - completely obsessed with the study of Forensic Science. She released a CD, and also has her own record company - GO Records. She currently lives in L.A. with two dogs, a cat.

From Wikipedia:

In addition to acting, Perrette is also a published poet, writer, photographer, and spoken-word artist, a lover of music of all kinds, and a passionate advocate for civil rights. She was the lead singer in the Los Angeles based all female band Lo-Ball; a song by Lo-Ball can be heard during the movie Legally Blonde. Perrette appeared in the "The Unnamed Feeling" video for heavy metal band Metallica off of their album St. Anger. In 2007 she produced a documentary about U.S. civil rights attorney and author Mark Lane.

In an interview with Craig Ferguson (host of The Late Late Show) she said she has a life long crime obsession. She was an undergrad student in Sociology, Psychology, and Criminal Science. She started her masters in Criminal Science before ending up in the entertainment industry. She has ended up playing a forensic scientist, which is what she was training to be in the first place.

McGee, never forget: I am one of the few people in the world who can murder you and leave no forensic evidence. (12 rather large pictures behing this cut) )

As if the fanfiction plot bunnies weren't bad enough...
I really kind of want to vid Oliver/Christian to The Boy with the Thorn in His Side by the Smiths.

This is so not going to happen! Seriously. I only ever made one vid and that was hard enough without using a Smiths song. They have all those damn intertwining rhythms that would be a total bitch to vid something to. Also, if Morrisey was dead, he'd be turning in his grave right now at the thought of being used for a soap opera fanvid...

I'll probably just make a fanmix.

1. I CAN HAS A NEW LAYOUT! It's a little more whimsical than my last layout but I was in the mood for something cute (First time I did anything with GIMP. I think it turned out alright.).

2. I'm still writing the Pete/Patrick Youtube!AU but the progress I'm making is veeeery slow. I've plotted the whole thing out but I can't seem to write more than a hundred words a week. *sigh*

3. I can't wait for the first Oliver/Christian fanfic! Get writing, people! XD

4. So many of my friends and relatives are going to laugh at me for even considering watching a daily soap. I guess that's payback for me making fun of my mom's telenovelas...

OMG, it's ze Germans! GET IN THE CAR!!! - Gay Romance Edition
Like I promised, here's the post about German soap opera boys in love.

During the last month or so, an increasingly large number of international viewers have been watching Oliver(right) and Christian's (left) story from the German soap Verbotene Liebe on youtube.

title or description

It's not often that something from Germany becomes so popular so fast. It probably has something to do with the (apparently) total lack of any good gay storyline in any of the US soaps and/or the frustration brought on by the total clusterfuck that is ATWT's Luke and Noah storyline.

There's a blog about international gay daytime storylines that regularly posts updates about Olli and Christian's story and AfterElton took notice too, comparing them to ATWT, and finding the latter a little...lacking.

I've got to say. the last time I watched any soap was almost ten years ago which is why I'm not surprised that I found out about the Christian/Oliver storyline through LJ and youtube. You guys, I could have been watching this ON MY TV FOR 6 MONTHS NOW! AND I DIDN'T!! WTF IS WRONG WITH ME??!?!

Anyway, I promised you gay romance, and...

...here it is! (Beware! this is long, but it's all AWESOME!!! SRSLY, you won't regret clicking this!) )
